Ong Ngoai's niece and her husband happened to be visiting the US from VIETNAM! They were so sweet and brought us so many gifts from Vietnam. But it is such a sad story to tell.... because they had to cut their trip short... becuase her mother (Ong Ngoai's 2nd oldest sister) fell ill while she was in transit going from Vietnam to New York. I believe her mother had a heart attack and was in a coma. The family did not want to tell her anything... afraid to ruin her trip. They were hoping maybe she would recover? Unfortunately, the day after they arrived in California to meet us, our relatives in Vietnam called to notify her about her mother, and that she should come back because her mother was not going to recover afterall =(
And so she changed her flight immediately and started her journey back to Vietnam on Wed night. Thursday morning, we received news that Ba had passed away. =(((( She was in transit.... no way to contact her. It's just so sad. My heart aches for her and for Ong Ngoai. Ong Ngoai's oldest brother (Ong Uoc) passed away last year.... and this year his sister dies. *sigh*
Bye Bye West Coast.... until we meet again!
